Tom Willemse 26689b0eec Don't use emacs-lisp-mode as the initial mode ... Using `emacs-lisp-mode' as the initial major-mode also runs `flycheck'. Flycheck will constantly show warnings because "*scratch*" doesn't contain the proper header or footer. The default initial major-mode is `lisp-interaction-mode', which is basically the same as `emacs-lisp-mode', with some extra (annoying) keybindings which get overwritten by `paredit' anyway.
